This amazing film was put together by director Peter Jackson (of Lord of the Rings fame).
It tells the story of what men from the UK experienced during WW I in the trenches. Archival film is used, much of it superbly colorized. Jackson delved into the archives and came up with dozens of interviews that were made with actual soldiers who'd served in WWI, and used clips from those interviews to narrate the story.
It is at once gritty, gory, and has an occasional touch of humor.
