In two or three of my novels, the characters visit the famous Grove Park Inn in Asheville, NC, and while there, look over the exhibits in the National Gingerbread House Contest. The 2017 contest was the 25th annual such event. Here are some photos of houses at this event and perhaps a couple of earlier events.
.
The rules stipulate that all of the ingredients in the houses must be edible, and the judges will take core samples from entries to determine if the rules have been followed. There are several categories of entrants, ranging from youth to adult.
Entries are on display from Thanksgiving until the end of December at the Grove Park Inn.
